Dr. Francisco Carreño Gálvez: Why Am I A Health Coach?

Wellness blocks

I've been asked numerous times why I chose my profession and why I chose to dedicate my career to the field of wellness coaching. Watch the video below or keep reading to find out.

In doing some self-searching, I found, well, the origin of all this. It started when I helped my father overcome his recovery from cancer. On top of the conventional treatment and everything— out of desperation I guess or fear of losing my father at that time — I delved into this field of knowledge of complementary treatments, natural health, integrative health, nutrition, the power of exercise, the power of supplements.

And I got fascinated as I was applying a rudimentary program, if you will. I got hooked with the power of these strategies, right? The beneficial effects that they have on health.

So I decided to dig deeper and try to scale what I did with my father with other people, as a way of giving back and contributing to society. And as I was doing that I was realizing why I love what I do.

My curious mind finds this field of knowledge, which is vast and ever-expanding, is based on scientific principles, so the language of science is there. I can talk with doctors of different specialties because we speak the same language.

But at the same time, it's a feeling that requires us to navigate the confusion. It requires us to be flexible.

You cannot be just a preacher of the ketogenic diet when some people will not respond to that.

You cannot be a preacher of certain exercises that will not work in another person.

You need to be connected with what the case is and apply the science in a personalized manner. That keeps my mind busy and my thirst for knowledge fulfilled.

As I was doing that, I realized the tremendous impact that I had on some of my patients and clients over all these years. I always wanted to be part of a happy testimonial, if you will. I like being part of someone's journey in key moments of health. I realized that I strive for that, right?

It's a way to remind myself of the value that I can share with others and how that can impact and change the trajectory of someone's life.

So there are two reasons why I do what I do. One is giving back, and one is nourishing my thirst for knowledge in a field that is so interesting.
