PartnerMD Live 3/20: Coronavirus, Telemedicine, and Your Questions

Written by Steve E. Bishop, M.D. | Mar 23, 2020

On Friday, March 20, PartnerMD physician and Director of Wellness Dr. Steven Bishop hopped on Facebook Live to discuss the latest coronavirus information and introduce our new Facebook Live video series featuring wellness tips at 9am and 3pm every weekday. Dr. Bishop also discussed our expanded telehealth capabilities, our temporary reduced office hours, and took questions about a variety of topics, including coronavirus. Watch the full video below and read on for a summary.

Coronavirus Update — March 20, 2020

  • We are still in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • We do not know how long the social distancing procedures will need to last.
  • For most people, it's best to stay at home, wash your hands, stay away from sick people. If you do get sick, call your doctor and they will help you figure out what to do next.
  • If you're above 60 and/or have medical problems, you should stay home as much as possible.

Stay Well with PartnerMD Live on Facebook!

  • Starting Monday, our Wellness team will be providing healthy tips on Facebook Live every weekday at 9am and 3pm.
  • Richmond health coach Michael Stroud will get us started Monday morning at 9am with home workout tips.
  • We'll also have videos on yoga and meditation, stress, healthy eating, and more.

PartnerMD Expands Telehealth Capabilities

  • We are rolling out expanding telehealth capabilities over the next week.
  • Through our partnership with Accuhealth, you will be able to have a virtual video appointment with your PartnerMD physician through your smartphone, tablet or computer.
  • These appointments function the same as an in-office visit, including using your health insurance for coverage, but provide more face-to-face interaction and privacy than a telephone call or email.
  • Telemedicine appointments are available to be scheduled during normal business hours.
  • As always, if you need care, simply call our office. Your physician will help you determine the best course for your care whether by phone, a telehealth appointment, or an in-person office visit.
  • If you and your physician decide that a telehealth visit is best, you will receive a link by email or text for your set appointment time. I

Reduced Office Hours Effective Monday, March 23

  • Starting Monday, March 23, all PartnerMD offices will be operating on a reduced schedule – 9 am to 3 pm.
  • This is to limit contagion and increase social distancing.
  • If you need care, a PartnerMD physician will help determine if a phone call, telemedicine visit or in office visit is most appropriate.
  • Plus we will still provide the same 24/7/365 access to PartnerMD physician care if you need it outside of office hours.
