As a board-certified internal medicine physician and concierge doctor in Greenville, SC, Dr. Leigh Watson provides thorough, comprehensive care for her patients, and she is a steadfast advocate for them as they navigate our complex healthcare system.
Dr. Watson earned her medical degree and completed her residency training at The Johns Hopkins University before serving eight years of active duty in the United States Air Force, where she earned the position of Chief of General Internal Medicine and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (select).
After leaving the Air Force, Dr. Watson spent several years as a medical professor, including at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio and back near her hometown of Spartanburg at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville.
Now, Dr. Watson has found her true calling as a practicing primary care physician — partnering with a patient, knowing and caring for the entire person, diagnosing new illnesses, managing acute and chronic diseases, and using preventive care to maintain health.
Her clinical interests include hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, depression, and dysautonomia.
Dr. Watson is particularly interested in medically complex patients — using thorough interviewing, physical examination, chart review, and judicious lab testing to confirm past diagnoses, establish the cause of perplexing symptoms, and manage several medical problems over time.
Having cared for her parents through the natural ends of their lives, Dr. Watson understands the challenges patients face in navigating the US healthcare system — and believes everyone deserves a medically savvy advocate.
"I can be that advocate for you — I know what it’s like to walk in your shoes."
