As a board-certified family physician and concierge doctor in Richmond, VA, Dr. Bambi Gladfelter partners with her patients to develop a plan to get them where they want to be with their health.
"I start with where they are in that moment, learn about their values, and understand what is important to them," Dr. Gladfelter says. "From there, my goal is to help them get their health where they need it to be for their journey."
From adolescents and young adults dealing with anxiety to elderly patients looking for help navigating their older years, and everyone in between, Dr. Gladfelter has more than 15 years of experience caring for a broad spectrum of patients.
She has significant expertise in women’s health and with those looking for alternatives to prescription medication. She also has experience helping people develop or change their exercise and nutritional habits to meet their goals.
Dr. Gladfelter believes nutrition plays an integral part in meeting your goals. She has a particular interest in nutrition for athletes, which she learned because her adult son is a mixed martial arts fighter.
As a doctor of osteopathy (D.O.), her education and training started with a focus on the whole person, and she has brought that into her career.
"Sometimes, a medication is going to be the best option," she says. "But it doesn’t have to be the first option or the only option. I have honest conversations with my patients and help them find the best path forward. It may not always be the easiest, but it’s my job to help them find the best path."
Dr. Gladfelter began her career in education and spent 15 years in educational programming for the Science Museum of Virginia. She decided to go to medical school after having a challenging experience with the medical system while raising her son.
"I decided I wanted to be a solution for others who experienced the same trouble we had," she says. "I just knew I could be a better resource than we’d received and wanted to be there for people."

"Providing care is all about honest conversations. I consider it an honor that patients trust me to be a part of their journey in life, and I want to help them achieve the things in life that are most important to them."
Favorite Part About Being a Doctor
“The trust that patients place in me to help them when they are most vulnerable. It is very humbling and very rewarding.”
Dr. Gladfelter grew up in the Appalachia region of West Virginia, in a small town called Crab Orchard, and still considers herself a West Virginian at heart thanks to her upbringing.
"The essence of who I am comes from my great-grandfather," she says. "He was a giving, generous person with a heart for helping people. That’s why I am who I am."
Dr. Gladfelter is active in her church community, and she enjoys spending time with her family and cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers.
